NEON Born in Britain trainers POP with colour

NEON is British but has shown at recent shows in London, Paris and Milan and I can see why. Colour literally pops out at you and I love their use of metallics too. You are never too old to wear a well crafted trainer and I own too few - am put to shame by a friend who always seems to be sporting the latest must have. British craftsmanship and luxury goes into every single shoe and style is cutting edge without being silly.

CelticandCo latest shoes and flip-flops

I am turning out my cupboards and drawers in an attempt to Spring Clean and I realise that I need some Spring/Summer footwear for my holidays. So I am proud to showcase some lovely colours and new styles from Celtic & Co...

I am definitely going to treat myself to these...

They look and feel soft and gorgeous - perfect for a summer stroll in the South of France.

I also like these colour shorty boots for £110.

My feet will thank me!

What is Crowdwish?

I'd like to see a bit of snow this year!

It's nice to come across something that is really quite altruistic and stops people in their tracks, even if for a moment. I had read that Katie Hopkins had been duped into signing her own gagging order (which was a relief to all and sundry) but wondered where such a brilliant idea had originated from. And now I know!

Crowdwish is a new service that aims to become the ultimate online wishlist. Users can choose up to 10 wishes for anything they want, be that for a favourite cause, a service, a product or good old fashioned advice. They can search wishes already put up and add their support or create their own. And of course it's not on just accessible on the site - you can join up through Facebook, Twitter or any other way you choose!

Every 24 hours the most popular wish it taken on by the team (which includes deal brokers, researchers and negotiators) all set to try to grant the wishes or take on the challenges to effect change. It might be as simple as setting up discounts or as complicated as helping someone to start a business. Either way they are at your disposal - seems rude not to check them out!

A selection of the actions worked on since the January 2014 launch include:

 Making donations to charities such as the Red Cross, Action against Hunger, Save the Children
and The Bill Clinton foundation
 Writing hilarious spoof letters to Jeff Bezos and David Cameron
 Providing assistance for people nervous about public speaking (from one of the architects of
the successful London 2012 bid, no less)
 Creating anti-bullying stickers for school-children
 Offering private cellar tours and restaurant kitchen experiences
 Lobbying CEOs for equal pay
 Helping people start businesses
 Tracking down the ’perfect black skinny trousers’
 Helping children in Sudan
 Giving away mindfulness apps
 Duping Katie Hopkins into signing her own gagging order
 Creating personalised posters for people with self-esteem issues
 Helping find a bone marrow donor
 Going to Sir David Attenborough’s house to ask for a cup of tea
 Having people meet with professionals - from photographers to personal assistants - to help
them in their career development
 Providing discounts on Apple products
 Giving away the best books of the last year, as voted for by an amazing panel
 Asking Michael Gove – directly – to teach a lesson himself
 Providing style advice from a TV personality
 Sending mystery presents on Valentine’s Day
 Cheering up friends of users with surprise gifts
 Finding and allowing users to enjoy the world’s best pie
 Creating a competition for amateur coders
 Providing a wardrobe makeover
 Offering support for those who have been in care

The founder Bill Griffin explained why the concept has been so well received,

“Whatever a person’s wishes may be and wherever they may be in the world, chances are there
is someone else out there with the same wish. It’s a simple principle that many voices are louder
than one, and the louder a voice the more likely it is to be heard. Crowdwish is a vehicle that
makes that happen. People have really taken to the concept which is very cool”.

If you'd like to take part remember the site rules:

1. Don’t be lame. No one cares that you wish you could fly. You can’t and this site can’t help you.
Sorry.
2. Don’t be greedy. ‘I wish I had a free Rolex’ isn’t going to get traction.
3. Don’t be crude. We don’t need to hear about your Mila Kunis fantasies.
4. Don’t be vague. Try and be specific and imaginative at the same time.
5. Don’t be (too) selfish. The more a wish is shared, the more likely it is to come true.
6. Don’t be a dick - any form of behavior that breaks the law, or advocates doing so, won’t be
tolerated.
That’s it.

I'm off there now....

Jimjams - taking the sugar out of jam and chocolate spreads.

A friend's daughter was on Facebook the other day asking whether her one year old was too young for chocolate spread with hazelnuts or whether she should be wary because of potential nut allergies. My friend left a message something along the lines of 'forget the allergy what about his teeth?' which made me sit up and take notice when a press release for a low-sugar alternative to chocolate spreads and jams hit my inbox.

Jimjams have six low sugar and calorie spreads that have 33% less sugar than leading jam brands and an amazing 84% less than the leading chocolate spread brands.

So perfect for kids and all of us really as sugar contributes to tooth decay, diabetes and obesity. Jimjams use Maltitol which is a sugar alcohol. It is sweet like sugar but has less effect on blood glucose than sugar does and is much lower in calories - so a bit of a win/win all round.  When it comes to their jam they do use some sugar - you can't do without it in the process but they use an absolute minimum amount with a higher than average fruit content.

For more info on the products and where to buy visit Jimjams.

New Carte Noire Espresso Capsules you can buy off the shelf!

I have written about how much I love my Nespresso and I have written about Gourmesso capsules too, which are delivered at a cheaper cost. Now with great excitement I have heard all about Carte Noire Espresso Capsules that can be bought from supermarkets at an RRP of £2.79 for 10. These are cheaper than Nespresso and easily available and it has made me really rather happy as they taste delicious too.

They work with all Nespresso machines bought before July 2013 so visit www.cartenoire.co.uk/compatibility to check if they will fit your machine. Carte Noire are a premium French coffee brand and if you love coffee you are bound to have tried theirs. They have four distinct flavours from subtle and fruity to chocolatey and nutty. Look out for Nos 3, 5, 7 and 9. All are made from Arabica coffee and they really won't disappoint.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

This has been the wettest most miserable winter on record. But the sun is out and although cold today there is blossom everywhere. I hope everyone has a day or two to enjoy it!

Colourful Cashmere - hurry 20% off at Boden!

I am on the hunt for a cashmere sweater for the season when I want a bit of warmth but don't want a jacket. And I want it to zing colour but am a bit wary as I have had cashmere that seems to wear thin after just a few outings which makes it an expensive buy that isn't too much of an investment.

I am not a fan of Boden usually but their dedicated cashmere shop and products found within seem to score highly with their customers and they do have a wonderful range of brilliant colours to choose from - and some styles have 20% off at the moment so it's worth a look!

Beautiful Glass Perfume Bottles at Liberty

How gorgeous are these? They remind me of the hyacinths that are growing on my windowsill - all Spring colours and gorgeously edible shapes. Must be why they are called 'Pineapple' bottles. Produced by Bob Crooks, and on sale now at Liberty, they are handmade (no moulds) and beautifully reflect light within and from the surface off, the glass. He is a British designer and glassmaker and is highly collectable with his work having been exhibited across the world and loved in places as different as China and the USA.

I would love to own a piece of his work - maybe one day...

Bob Crooks perfume bottles at Liberty, £75 each.
